USPS Estimated Delivery Times
Mail Classes and Delivery Windows
There are two different types of mail classes provided by the USPS that we offer here at HomeVisit. First Class and Standard (Bulk). Both types including their subsets offer their own benefits and drawbacks.
First Class
USPS first-class, and its different subsets, delivery is given priority over standard mail, and local and mail will typically be delivered in 1-5 business days. Nationally, first-class mail should be delivered in about 5 business days. First-class mail postage includes forwarding and return services with no additional charge.
Standard Mail
Standard Mail, also known as "bulk mail", is processed by the USPS on a “time available” basis. There is NO GUARANTEED delivery window. Local mail is typically delivered in about 1 to 14 business days, and national mail is typically delivered somewhere between seven days and three weeks. Because of this, Standard Mail should never be used on mailers that have a rapidly approaching dated event or any time-sensitive information. Standard mail is not forwarded or returned if undeliverable. Standard Mail is the least expensive postage mode, approximately 32 percent less than the price of first class.
